The 3rd regional ecology festival «Prirodograd» was held in Louhi village on the 19th of April.
The traditional arrangers of the festival are the Federal State Budgetary institution «Paanajarvi National Park» and the regional department of education. This year the representatives of nine educational institutions took part in the Festival: there were representatives of primary and secondary schools and of the Pyaozerskiy orphanage.
The festival was dedicated to special protection territories of the Republic of Karelia, and it was not accidentally: the motto of the campaign «Park March 2013» was «Let’s provide reliable protection to the protected territories».
Each team got the home task – they had to prepare a presentation about one of the Karelian natural areas. The children managed to perfectly prepare their home tasks: all presentations differed from each other. The presentations of Louhi, Kestenga and Ambarny schools were the most interesting. The next stage of the festival was the «Protected Territories Expert Club» quiz. The questions allowed to estimate their knowledge level. Pyaozerskiy secondary school team turned out to be the most attentive: they have collected the maximum number of tokens – 6.
The most interesting and demanding task of the festival is building of Prirodograd city. The children got a map and needed to construct city objects – a pulp and paper mill, educational and medical institutions – to plan a project of a recreational area and to think over the city improvement.
The jury and the participants of the festival carefully reviewed all projects. As a result of the lively discussion we managed to build a beautiful and convenient city, where everyone would comfortably live. On the last stage of the Festival the children had to create an agitation poster regarding the topic «Let’s provide reliable protection to the protected territories».
According to the results of the four stages of the Festival the representatives of the Kestenga secondary school became the winners, the children from Louhi village took the second place, and the third were the children from Pyaozersk.
All participants agreed to come back the year after to continue «building» new cities.
Welcome!
